Overview
This article provides troubleshooting steps for resolving issues when a signage player is not connecting to the Onelan server and is displaying the Brightsign splash screen instead. Please follow the steps below to diagnose and resolve the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Check Network Connection
- Ensure that the signage player is properly connected to your network, whether wired or wireless.
- If connected wirelessly, verify the signal strength and that the network credentials are correct.
2. Verify Player Boot
- Determine if the player has ever displayed content other than the Brightsign splash screen. If not, it may indicate a configuration issue.
- Inspect the Brightsign splash screen for any model numbers and firmware versions to help identify potential hardware or software mismatches.
- Use a keyboard or mouse connected via USB to interact with the player if it's stuck on a setup or loop screen. Pressing 'Next' may help advance past the initial boot screen.
3. Check Configuration
- Upload the correct configuration file from your Onelan server to the Brightsign player.
- Add the Cloud CMS address to the configuration file to ensure the player is pointed to the right server.
- Ensure that a valid license is added to your Onelan account, as a missing license could prevent the player from connecting properly.
- Apply the default configuration via the Onelan CMS to reset any incorrect settings.
4. Inspect Hardware Components
- Make sure that the SD card is inserted in the signage player and contains the necessary OS software. A missing or blank SD card can prevent the OS from loading.
- Verify that all cables are securely connected and there are no signs of physical damage to the hardware.
5. Contact Support
- If the issue persists, contact your support representative for further assistance. Provide them with the model number, firmware version, and any error messages or screens displayed.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve issues causing the signage player to fail to connect to the Onelan server.
