Recovery USB Instructions
These instructions are how to create a rescue USB and use it on a Core 110f/c & 510i/c ONLY 9.1 Whatarescuedrivedoes
A USB rescue image will re-write parts of the Flash Drive of the core. Unlike a factory reset, this will re-write the firmware image stored on the Core and rewrite parts of the file system.

How to write the image file to a USB drive
To create a rescue USB on a windows machine, use a Windows USB image writing software. QSC suggests using a tool called Win32 Disk imager. This software can be found and downloaded online by entering the name into a search engine.
IMPORTANT -- Use a newly FAT32 formatted USB with at least 4 GB in size.
-
Unizip(decompress) the rescue image file that was downloaded on QSC service website or provided to you from QSC. The image file you download will be a compressed image file. The file will end in ‘‘.img.gz’’. You must decompress the file using a program comprable to WinRar or 7-Zip. After decompressing the .gz file you should have a ‘‘efi-rescue.img’’ file.
-
After downloading Win32DiskImager, run the Win32DiskImager.exe and select the USB mounted ‘‘Device’’ in the dropdown menu.
-
Next, select the ‘‘Image file’’ that you had extracted in the previous step. This file will end with a ‘‘.img’’.
-
Press ‘‘write’’ and wait for the USB image to be created.
-
Once the writing process is completed, verify the write process was sucess- ful by the instructions below.
How to verify USB rescue image was successfully created:
1. Open up the USB drive and view the contents of the folder. The following two files should be in the root directory of the USB drive:
TSD101007
Core 110f Service Manual

2. Use the rescue drive on a Core with instruction in the next section.
9.3 Using a rescue disk to re-program a Core
IMPORTANT NOTE:
o YoucanonlyusethedesignatedrescuediskonaCore110or510.Verifyinthecompatibilitytabletodetermineifyouare using the correct FW image on the correct Core model. If you use the rescue image on the wrong type of core, you will corrupt the OS.
o ThereisnosetupinBIOSrequiredforacore110f/c&510i/ctoruntherescueimage.TheCore110and510 motherboard’s boot priority will choose to boot from USB first (if it’s plugged in) and the Hard drive second.
o The front panel will not provide a status update. Use an external monitor connect to the Core’s HDMI port to verify re- write process.
Rescue Instructions
-
Power off the Core
-
Plug in the Core Rescue USB into any of the USB-A ports on the back of the Core.
-
Plug in AC power to the Core.
-
The motherboard will find the USB drive connected upon power up and load the image into memory. Once the OS image has been successfully transferred to the motherboard’s onboard memory, the following output should be displayed on the external monitor. (see figure below)
-
Remove the USB rescue disk from the Core 110f and power down the Core.
-
Re-apply power to the Core and wait for it to fully boot.
-
If the Rescue image does not recover the Core then there is more than likely another issue causing the core from booting correctly.
*If you do not have access to an external monitor to alert you when the image file has successfully been written to the motherboard's memory, perform the following steps
1. Insert the USB rescue image into the Core 2
QSC, LLC
-
Apply power to the Core.
-
Wait at least 5 minutes, then remove the USB from the back of the Core.
-
Power cycle the Core and wait for the Core to boot.
