Issue Summary
When attempting to use the Poly TC8 in Device Mode (Bring Your Own Device), the option may appear greyed out, preventing new USB connections from being recognized. This results in devices being out of session, and no connection to room peripherals (camera, mic, speakers) can be established.
Symptoms
-
Device Mode buttons are greyed out.
-
Unable to initiate a new USB connection.
-
No access to in-room peripherals when connecting a laptop.
Resolution Steps
-
Access the Session Controls:
-
Swipe or drag upward from the bottom of the Poly TC8 screen to reveal the session taskbar.
-
-
End the Current Session:
-
Tap the red button on the right side of the taskbar to end the session.
-
Ensure the USB cable is disconnected before ending the session.
-
-
Re-enable Device Mode:
-
Once the session ends, the Device Mode button should become available again.
-
-
Reconnect the USB Cable:
-
Plug the USB cable back into your laptop.
-
After a few seconds, the system will automatically reconnect, granting access to the room’s camera, speakers, and microphone.
-
Additional Notes
-
This procedure is designed to restore functionality without requiring a system reboot.
-
These steps should be followed whenever Device Mode appears unresponsive or unavailable.
